Revamped 3leem: the first Arabic Audiobook app for adolescents

Problem
“They need it, it’s just not so easy to use”
3leem app for children audiobooks proved the market need in MVP stage, but the interface and existing experience were making it difficult for new adopters. The client reached out to me for an audit & revamp.
A books app? I was thrilled 🤗😁!
Approach
Study analytics + competition, audit current app, find issues, fix!
Analyze this: Firebase + feedback
Dissect usage data we have from firebase and user feedback to find out what journeys are users currently struggling to complete and why.
Thank Google for Crashlytics!
Audit & Compare
study 4 local, regional and international competitor apps to compare the different journeys and learn what can be applied and what should we avoid when redesigning 3leem for adolescents in the MENA region.
Oh i had so much fun! I kept forgetting that it was work and enjoyed checking out books and adding them to shelves in all apps 😂

All the issues!
Analyze 3leem’s current experience and interface & evaluate it against UX fundamentals, Nielsen’s heuristics and my understanding of the target market. Then I used figjam’s AI to summarize all that ✨

Design on a budget.
Remove friction for guests, introduce a new business model & beatify!
We were working on a limited budget, so honestly the only UX design activities I did were sitemaps + wireframes to logically arrange features & content across app pages in a way that solves all found issues.
Then I jumped right into UI design, created the design library, finished one flow then I presented it to get feedback, after the green light we discussed points we needed to focus on later on usability testing then I designed the whole thing.
UI Design
User first..parents & children.

no go read a book, or listen to one!
