How I solved the stressful daily commute for parents in Dubai with Kolyom

Problem

Working parents in Dubai live stressful lives.

  • School transportation is very expensive and often does not cover the entire city.

  • So parents are forced to drive their kids to school and back home daily, putting them under much stress as they get stuck in traffic before work and after school.

Until Kolyom; a service for scheduling safe, reliable school commute for school students.

Approach

To design the correct solution, we needed to understand the problem with the current system by talking to stakeholders & analyzing competition.

So we actually need 4 interfaces

Being an operations heavy service, we needed to give control to all 4 types of users to deliver the intended level of reliability: Parents app, Drivers app, OPS dashboard and School Conductor Dashboard

Designing the experience

To get to the layout, I needed to design the service. Meaning that I needed to imagine how the service runs end to end and consider all parties involved.

Finally we got to wireframing phase, which was necessary since the product was very complex with multiple different interfaces.

UI Design

Multiple wireframing iterations later, I got down to the task of making it all beautiful, accessible and ready for market.
